We registered for a bus tour in London that included the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and a handful of other stops. We were blessed to have Sheila as our guide for the tour. She was friendly, witty and so well informed. We were amazed with her knowledge off the top of her head. Our tour was fun, well organized and just amazing. I recommend Evan Evans and Sheila for any tours you might be interested in taking while in London.

The tour coach leaves from Victoria Coach Station. This is a few city blocks, and just across the street from the Victoria Metro station.
It is easy to find your tour; they post the tour departures on screens above each gate with boarding times. You can also ask any staff that is not busy, and they are willing to help; just be respectful.
There is a coffee/snack bar directly across from the departing gates with seating. This is a very clean comfortable coffee shop and a nice place to spend time while you wait for your tour to leave. However, the stations restrooms not so much;I would recommend using restrooms somewhere else before you get there if possible.
Now on with the Tour.
Our guide was Sheila, she was warm, friendly, funny, and informative. She said she has been a tour guide for over thirty years, and it showed; she knew her stuff.
We pass by several points of interest and Sheila pointed out extras that you would not find on most tours i.e.The Michelin building with its unusual tile work and stain glass, buildings that were not repaired from damage due to the London Bomb raids in WW II, and the change in architecture through-out London over time. Some things she had the driver stop for so we could take a quick pic. I greatly appreciated this since not all pictures from the coach are the best or easiest to take.
Our first stop was Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard. It was raining a little that day, so Sheila advised us that if I continued to rain they may not have the changing of the guard. We lucked out and it stopped raining long enough that they did.
Be aware that the walk from where we left the coach to the Palace is long. Also, there are few public restrooms and you have to pay to use them. Sheila let us know where they were located.
There are many photo opportunities here including the gardens and this is a must see in my opinion.
Now the tour is divided into three time segments: some people only doing the morning, some only the afternoon, and some (like us) the entire day). So, you will not always have the same people on your coach with you if you choose the entire day. Shiela advised at lunch time to mark your seat by leaving something on it if you did not want it taken by the new arrivals to the tour.
Lunch was on your own, but made easier due to Sheila pointing out where restaurant were the closest, and even made a few suggestions.
We did St. Paul's Cathedral, and the Tower of London after lunch.
St Paul's was breathtaking, but this is a working church so you must show respect for the parishioners. They also, every hour have a silent prayer and ask all to be silent during this time.
There are hidden gems here that I did not know we would encounter: The WW II memorial to American soldiers who fought along side the British troops, and the Crypt in the basement that house many notable deceased; Florence Nightingale etc.
There are free public restrooms and souvenir purchasing areas in this lower level as well.
Our last stop was The Tower of London.
It is a large historical area that is interesting and quirky. The quirky part is the wild animal sculptures made out of pressed wire through-out the compound. They depict the gifts that were given to the King from other countries. Apparently it was the fashion to give exotic animals as gifts.
there is also the story about the ravens and the towers and they still have live Ravens that live there.
Our guide Sheila share interesting stories about the towers. At the end of the tour she pointed out where the crown jewels were housed if we wanted to go through the display. She also, advised how to get to the river cruise and the London eye ( she had given us our passes for both earlier), the cruise was very close by and it would take you to the London eye. You could do both that day or save your passes and use them at your convenience. Your guide does not do any of these activities with you, and at his point you are on your own for the rest of the day.
We did see the Crown Jewels and it was worth the viewing, however, it was dark, crowed, and hot in the building. They do not allow picture taking in here either, so be prepared.
We also decided to do the cruise and the London eye that day.
The cruise was a nice way to see the city and relax.
We got to the London Eye at about 6:00pm and they still had people on the wheel but they had shut down for the day and were not taking any new passengers. This was disappointing since we had paid for it, and unfortunately this was the only time that would work with our schedule.
I think that this tour should refund anyone who is not able to do this activity.
We would have done this but they closed it early. In fairness they may of closed early due to the weather conditions. It was getting very cloudy and dark out, and thunder storms were being forecasted.
In all, this was a great way to see the history and highlights of London.
I highly recommend this tour, but be flexible and realize that they can't control the weather and certain unseen situations.

What a great tour, despite on and off rain. Our tour guide, Sheila, was extremely versed and informative, but also lively and had an appropriate sense of humor. Idris, the bus driver, routinely checked Google for the best routes and parked as close as possible to the main attraction spots. We saw the best parts of London that you could do in one day as we were only on a layover before a cruise. Viator, (the company we booked through, completed by Evan Evans) was wonderful, as usual. We were unable to finish the final part of our tour, the Thames River Cruise, because the cruise tour company had mechanical and staff issues. When I contacted Viator, (the booking company and filled by Evan Evans) they immediately refunded that part of the tour. Thank you Viator and Evan Evans for a wonderful experience!

We are two Traveling Grandmothers. We loved the conveience of the tour to see several of London's best sites. Our guide (we had one in am and one in afternoon) were both great. Morning was tour on bus around busy London seeing the sites and Stop for Changing of the Guard, (this part of tour disappointed since we were not up close and personal for most of the viewing, it was on the fence for part of the marching, then at a distance view for remainder.... Did require a good bit of walking briskly.... Stop for lunch was on your own, with suggestions of restaurants but felt very rushed (50 minutes total for lunch). Afternoon tour of St. Pauls Cathedral was great, then on to Tower of London, guide was very helpful, it was a good overview, then on your own for seeing Crown Jewels, (luck was on our side, we were able to walk right in). Remainder of tour was River Cruise (on your own with tickets provided) and London Eye (on your own with tickets provided) so no guide after the tour of the Tower of London. Our observation was - if you need guide for all activities, this tour is not for your. The pro's were the two ladies who were our guides, full of wonderful information about London! and getting to see a lot of London in one day! and the headsets were great to be able to hear the commentary while walking. Con's bus was nice but not very comfortable, seats were very close together and no seat pockets - so nowhere to put your water bottle, purse, etc.. All in all a good tour on a full bus, if you want personal tour hire a personal guide.

So Buckingham palace admission is not included. Do you buy the admission ticket in advance or when you walk up on the tour???

No it is not. This tour is only to watch the guards parade past as thet go from their barracks towards the palace for the change. We don't actually watch the guards "change" but more of the pomp and circumstance of a parade of both the old guards that are coming off and new guards going on march. Once the parade is over, we head back to bus to head to our next stop of this London tour, St. Paul's Cathedral.

Hi, it's an approximate time, but the London eye has a cutoff time so by the time I was done at the London Tower, I was not in time for to get in line for the London Eye and had to come back the next day. They honored my ticket even though it was dated for the day before.

How close do you get for the changing of the guards. What is the special viewing location that your web page advertisements mentions

We don't actually stay to watch the guards changing. Once we got off the bus and before the "old" guards or off going guards come out and start their march towards the Palace to be relieved, our guide has us at a nice viewing spot to watch the band and old guards march by, Then we walk along with the guards towards the Palace to watch the on coming guards assemble at the Wellington Barracks before they march by accompanied by another band. Once the parade of guards are done, we make our way back to our bus to head to St Paul's Cathedral.

Where do I choose the London Eye option?

I booked through Viator and there were several options to chose from. I chose the "London In One Day Tour with Changing of the Guard with London Eye option" tour. Even though I missed the last time slot on the day of my tour, I was able to back the next day and used my ticket.
If I were to select this tour, am I able to go in Westminster Abbey or is it just a drive by?

The details mention an "Air conditioned coach" is this a bus of normal caliber, a double decker bus as (as seen in many london areas)? Or something else?

It was not a double decker bus. It was air conditioned and comfortable.

How much was the upgrade for the London Eye add on?

Sorry, I see you are in Florida. About $70 US, and that was for both of us, not each. The Eye could be used on a different day, which we could not do because we were going home the next day. I cannot remember how much the Eye tickets were at the actual venue. You do not save time buying the extra, because you have to stand in the ticket line to exchange your voucher for a ticket.
