Both tours were very good. The guides were excellent and made it very informative and fun. Specially the guide in the alligator tour.

We enjoyed our day. The plantation tour didn’t give us quite as much history as we were hoping for but the grounds were beautiful. The swamp tour was very good. We had Captain Dave and he did a fantastic job keeping us entertained on our trip.

The entire tour experience was top notch! It was very organized and punctual. Jim, our tour guide and driver Darren were very professional and helpful. Jim was very informative about the history of New Orleans, it's culture and food. He prepared us while in route with the history of the Plantation and what to expect. The same with the Swamp Boat Tour. He made the whole tour fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend this team and tour. You won't be disappointed!

This was a fantastic tour! The plantation is very beautiful and on the cloudy day we had, it was a great atmosphere for photos. I was a tiny bit upset that I couldn't take pictures inside the house, but I completely understand why. It's more important to preserve the history than it is for me to have pictures I most likely won't look at many times. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer questions and listen as some guests (my aunt included) told their own stories. There was plenty of time to see everything and grab a bite to eat before we went on.
The swamp tour was absolutely fantastic! The guide was very knowledgeable and hilarious and always made sure to stop whenever anyone pointed out a gator. He also has a baby gator you can hold and he is so cute! Though they normally hibernate in January, we were able to see many gators out sunbathing since it was sunny and 80° F. I misunderstood part of the tour: I thought we would get out and explore a fishing village, but you see it from the boat.

This was a good tour. Each tour was about two hours, so you do spend plenty of time on the bus. It was comfortable and the driver, Barbara, was enthusiastic and provided information about New Orleans and Louisiana as we traveled. We did the pontoon boat and the driver was knowledgeable about the area but we didn’t see any wildlife except for a few birds. Alligators hibernate for weeks at a time in the winter, so depending on your travel times don’t expect to see any, but you get a nice river boat ride. People seemed to enjoy the air boats, but it was chilly when we were there. The plantation was interesting and the grounds were beautiful. In our opinion we had plenty of time at both places to enjoy the sights and didn’t feel rushed. I recommend bringing a snack with you. We ran into traffic, so were a little late getting to the plantation. It was nice to have something to munch on, so we didn’t have to run to the restaurant before it closed at 3:00. Gave us more time to walk the grounds and enjoy a Mint Julep.

Both places we visited were absolutely beautiful, and all guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. Totally worth it!
Also, unlike previous reviews that found the tour rushed, I found we had enough time to explore the plantation and even grab a bite to eat - overall I found the time management just about right - our driver did a great job!
I have to mention that the program says that the boat part takes 4 hours - that was not true for us, we were on the boat only for about an hour or two - which was more than sufficient to see the different swampy landscapes and wildlife. Also, our Plantation House guide was not dressed in a period costume as stated in the program - so don't expect that to not be disappointed.
So while I recommend updating the program description due to these details, I also wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful day of Louisiana experience :)

The swamp tour was definitely the highlight - our guide had a one-year-old alligator on board that we were able to hold! He also did a great job guiding us through the swamp and telling us all about the different land areas and animals, as well as the environment is changing. Oak Alley Plantation was beautiful, and the self-guided tour through the slave quarters was very informative. The tour of the plantation house itself was underwhelming, but we still had a nice time walking the grounds. Our bus driver was great as well, and the bus was very comfortable, plus it was great getting picked up and dropped off close to our accommodations. As others have mentioned, the only thing that I think could be improved is communication about pick up times. After waiting at our pickup point for 35 minutes, I had to call the company to make sure we were still being picked up and was told the bus would be arriving imminently, and it was there 5 minutes later. Overall, the tour was great, and we would recommend it.

The swamp boat tour was the highlight. The guide was a very knowledgeable local guy. Oak Alley Plantation was also great. Only problem was bumpy roads — not the tour operator’s fault.

Great tour of the plantation, quarters, and the swamp. We spotted a baby alligator, held one and learnt a lot about alligators. Kids loved it.

Oak Alley was beautiful. The guide, the one with a mohawk, was quite receptive to questions and knew the plantain history well. The slave quarters were informative and provided information that was new to us.
Captain Jason was an excellent tour guide during our swamp tour. He provided a lot of historical and scientific information. Jason also shared an alligator rescue that was injured with our group.
The tour company provided clean and comfortable busses.
Communication could be improved. Possibly messsging the customers with more definitive pick up times, and more communication about switching busses and drivers mid-tour.

What time does it start and finish? Will be arriving in New Orleans on a cruise. Would we be picked up from the terminal on the morning?

Yes, there’s both a cafe and a restaurant at the plantation. And food was quite reasonable.

I am interested in doing the combo Oak Alley and small airboat tour. What does the itinerary look like? Start to finish, include pick ups, time at plantation, swamp, etc. How much time is spent in the bus/van total?
I want to make this a great trip and need the information in order to book this and set expectations with my family.
