I visited the country park on a Saturday morning to do the weekly parkrun and really enjoyed my visit.
It's well kept and clean and tidy from what I saw.
There is a parking charge but I didn't find it particularly excessive. The visitor centre had toilets which were perfectly acceptable.

Went on the red route bike riding.
Could do with new singage as came off the trail a few times.
Other then that, great place to go.

We booked a bbq here for a family get together. 12 of us aged from mid 60s to 3 years old twins. Literally a few feet from our picnic bench was a decomposing rabbit which had clearly been dead for a while. The stench was unbearable and the flies and maggots put us off our picnic. I parked my car over the rotting remains until a ranger came. Left a voicemail and 2 rangers turned up at 14:00 which was 3 hours after we’d arrived. To be fair the voicemail wasn’t picked up for a couple of hours. They removed the carcass but the day had been ruined by then. I appreciate animals die in the countryside but surely the eating areas could be checked the day of bookings? The grill itself was good, but the ground was badly potholed which made playing field games difficult, and the £7.50 per car parking charge felt excessive. Had it not been for the foul smell of the dead rabbit, which remained even after the carcass was removed, we would have considered returning another day but maybe not now.

South Downs Show
Well we WANTED to visit the show but it appears like other attractions in the South Downs National Park area they have no interest anyone who has to opt for a spontaneous day out. Part of the remit of the SDNP is to encourage tourists but since covid all the attractions in the park area seem to be jumping on the “Advance bookings only” bandwagon so if you don’t plan your life in advance you are not welcome! Many people have to grab the chance of a day out when it arises, this includes carers, casual workers as well as harassed parents so finding you had to plan at least a week in advance is infuriating. Oh and what about those who want to use cash? nope book online in advance. It is obvious it is only being done so they have upfront money rather than risk rainy days but it certainly puts up big glaring signs saying “Non internet users Not Welcome here” It seems they remove critical comments from their Facebook pages rather than listen, so I had no option but to comment here where they can’t remove it. Oh and as you are online I suggest before you visit the park make sure you check out the parking fees to decide if you can afford a nice walk.

We recently moved to the area and had been told about this park so thought we would visit. Really disappointing. The entrance is just off the A3 so you have to walk or drive up to the final car park to get away from the relentless noise of cars.
We tried to walk a trail but found the signposting useless. Also before our visit we tried to source a good map but this too was v hard to find online.
Mountain bikes everywhere so not really walking friendly.
Made our way down to the main cafe/toilets area.
Toilets ok. Shop, pathetic range of expensive items and cafe had less atmosphere than the moon and looked expensive .
Thankfully we had parked at ‘Halls hill’ car park at the top of the hill which is free and walked into the park from there as the parking charges really put us off.
Sadly we will not be returning.
Hants CC.
Ask yourself -Is this a resource for all or an expensive mountain bike park?

As country parks go, not too bad. However, there are a few areas it falls short.
(1) Having to pay nearly £10 to park, yet that's just for a parking space. We went to the Juniper car park due to the loos there, only to find the washing facilities were intermittently or completely out of order - come on, for £10 I expect to have a decent loo.
(2) No paper maps available. "Oh but you can take a photo of the board." Yes, you can if your phone battery's going to last all the way round, and you don't mind walking along squinting at a tiny screen. Not so great if you want to have a screen-free day out.
(3) It's not clear that what looks like the entrance to the main car park at the bottom of the hill is actually the main entrance to the whole site - you drive through the barriers, then either park there or carry on up the hill to the other car parks.

My wife rented rented the pizza oven at the top of the park by Juniper car park.
Such a good way to celebrate or just enjoy spending time with friends and family.
The cost of the hire includes the tools, a basket of wood and kindling.
Quite a lot of prep was needed the day before to prepare the dough etc, and it’s a bit of a walk to the car so a trolley is a good idea.
My advice would be buy a bag of kiln dried wood. The wood was seasoned so slightly damp and it was a fairly modest amount of kindling.
We used both the basket of wood supplied and a bag of king dried to get it going.
The oven area is also sheltered.
The oven was available from 11 - 4.
Toilets are nearby at the ice cream booth.
It really is a good facility in lovely surroundings and very family friendly.

I hadn't been to the park for a while, and went to climb Buster Hill. Absolutely gobsmacked by the outrageous parking fee's £2.50/hr, so for a walk that's 1hr 1 min that's costing you £5.00.
I suppose less well off people shouldn't expect access to our natural areas.
The park is beautiful, but as a direct result of these high charges I will not return.

We tried the Queen Elizabeth Country Park ‘Blue’ Novice/Intermediate bike trail today.
Mum, Dad, two daughters 11yrs & 13yrs.
We often enjoy a good long ride at Moors Valley Country Park, the girls are fit and experienced on their mountain bikes, but the trail today was a bit beyond their confidence level.
We were told cycling was allowed strictly only on the Blue or Red bike trail, so there wasn’t the choice we are used to at country parks. The Blue trail had a long uphill pull at the start on a uneven stone path. Then it goes into woodland with ups and downs, then it’s downhill back to the start with challenging tree roots, corners and other obstacles. It was fun but had to control speed carefully on the second half due to the terrain. Confident adult riders were racing around the track so we frequently stopped to clear the path when we heard bikes coming.
All in all, it’s a great bike track, but I’d suggest it’s for confident, fit and very experienced mountain bike riders. We wouldn’t have even attempted the Red route.
We love walking at this park, but definitely won’t bring our bikes again.

Hi. Could anyone tell me if the Beechwood cafe is just a takeaway service at the moment or indoor seating? Many thanks

The seating was outdoor only a couple of weeks ago-there is an undercover section though and it is in a courtyard so a bit sheltered!

hi there! I visited this country park a few days ago, we visited at around 6pm and it was lovely and quiet, also it is an open space so it’s easy to avoid seeing people if needed. I must also recommend petersfield lake as a nice, quiet walk, it is a hidden gem in the heart of petersfield just off the motorway. I hope this helps.

The car parks don't have any height restrictions. So I would say yes shouldn't be an issue the park does have a website too so I would check that to. Hope this helps. Enjoy your visit.
Do you have to pay to visit? And if so how much is it?
