You can be picked up in town by the company at several designated spots in town (big busses are band from entering the city so there are many spots that you can be picked up from) When you arrive they have a very informative orientation to the centre. I don't ride horses I just wanted to learn about them. I was able to visit the stables and interact with the horses. You can ride a horse in the ring if you would like to. These horses are a must see for any visitor to Iceland. They are so gentle and are just like big dogs. They love a scratch, brush and are happy for you just to be with them. The even didn't mind my attempt to arrange their hair!! In my group of five there was a young boy three years of age and he was looked after really well and was able to have a ride. The guide was lovely really knowledgeable and so patient and kind. This tour is a must do item in Iceland. You are able to have a free hot tea, coffee or hot chocolate at any time. All the wet weather gear and boots are provided and they have sizes from small to extra extra large. You can take a free horse shoe home with you too!!

We visited in February and it was lovely. It didn’t feel very cold, but they offered waterproof gear if you wanted it. The guides were friendly and professional and had our safety in mind, but not to the point that it was boring. They let the more comfortable riders go ahead on the second half of the ride and practice the fait famous to the Icelandic horse, the Tölt. I would definitely recommended it if you have a couple days in the city. It was one of our favorite experiences in our short trip to Iceland.

They were supposed to pick me up from my hotel and never showed myself and guide to Iceland tours tried ringing their emergency contact line and no answer. It's an emergency contact line someone must always answer! It's happened before to other people so don't make the mistake by booking with these people.

We had a wonderful time. It is located right at a horse training grounds, so during lunch we watched some riders practice; right outside the window we could watch a professional rider "tolt" (and flying!), it was amazing to watch. Of course, YMMV :-)
Location is very near Reykjavik, only 10-15 minutes drive from where we were staying. This was nice, so we don't spend a lot of our time travelling. Given it was so closer to Reykjavik, I was concerned it wouldn't be very rural, as I wanted a trail ride, not a city ride. It wasn't a problem. Maybe about 1/3 of the ride is past horse stables and some houses, but it was short enough that it remained interesting. The remaining time was in the Heidmörk Nature Reserve, riding among some amazing lava fields with "pseudo craters" (go ahead and look them up, I'll wait) and beautiful scenery.

Andres picked us up at our flat and chatted with us as he drove us to the Center. Once there we were introduced to Iris, our guide and got acquainted with the horses. The 21/2 hour ride through the lava fields was magical. Fish were jumping out of the water as we crossed a stream and geese lined up on a ledge above us and honked as we settled in for a picnic.Iris was wonderful. She was patient and took time to explain the history of the Icelandic horses and what they were communicating to us as we rode. It was a wonderful evening. Highly recommended.

Traveled from the USA to visit Iceland, and stopped here to do a day tour. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, pleasant attitude & very accommodating. Also Prompt with responding and booking. The guide that we had was a younger male around the age of 17, who was professional & and very informative on Icelandic culture & landscape. Easy to talk to & good at answering questions about the horses.
Very unique experience, and would recommend it to anyone traveling there!

We were picked up by Andres outside our residence in the city centre. In the car we had a nice chat about horses and their history and preservation of the bloodlines.
Once at the riding centre, we were greeted by the very sweet and charming Iris. She gave us a crash course on riding the Icelandic horse, and kitted us out with necessary equipment.
We loved the ride on Goliat and Eldir :-) Such responsive and lovely horses!
Iris was very considerate and knowledgeable too, with a great laugh making the ride even more enjoyable.

We went for two trips at this center and it was really great. We have some experience riding horses, and these horses were great. In addition, we liked the humans as well.

My wife and I booked this tour on our Iceland travels. We thought it would be a lovely ride with a "picnic" and scenic views of the "midnight sun" as the tour suggests. Both far from the truth. We have traveled to 27 countries, both in our early 30's and very energetic and happy-go-lucky. The tour started with our 17 year old guide, who didn't know too much about the world or the area we were riding in, dictating how to ride the horse and speak Icelandic. He insisted we try to speak Icelandic words, and was quite patronizing with our pronunciations. Their language is difficult, but we always try to learn words, just not in a patronizing way. The "picnic" was essentially pita bread with ham and 1 beer. We were also rushed to finish it so we could continue the ride. The "midnight sun" tour doesn't include any of the sort, you are back at the barn by 1000 pm, 22:00, and then not offered a beer, but a ride back home. The tour is also very expensive for what you get, $389 USD, for a short ride. There are so many other tours for young, energetic travelers, for your money. If you want to have a horse riding tour, I suggest somewhere near Hveragerði hot springs, or spend your money on a more exhilarating tour.

What is the maximum weight of a man that your horses would be comfortable with? My husband weighs 98 kg and is 1.82 m in height. He has ridden twice only.

Hello Esther and thank you for your question.
It is no problem for your husband to ride the Icelandi horse. Our wight limit for a 90 min riding tour is around 130-140 kg.
