This is one of 38 independent cities in Virginia. This a small, safety, clean, friendly, and cosmopolitan city. You can take a look of historic farm, trails, parks, and eat Afghan, American, Bolivian, Chinese, Greek, Iranian, Irish, Italian, Jamaican, Japanese, Russian, Salvadorian, Thai, and Vietnamese food. Besides, you can walk the broad street in 30 minutes.

The historic church and graveyard are worth a tour. You can contact the church and arrange a tour with a docent. If you happen to be there on a Sunday, attend a service! The people are friendly and the sermons are moving!

More of a monument to Civil War days than a church. Interesting landmark. There does not seem to be very much activity there for such a prestigious location.

Beautifully kept oldest church in the area. This historic icon is used on a daily basis. The grave stones are a history lesson in themselves.

I really appreciate the openness the community has for the gay Members! I also very much am grateful for all of the allowed "basement" 12-Step Meetings held there!

The Church is not open for tours on a regular basis. We made arrangements to go inside the church prior to our trip. We were given a pamphlet on the church and graveyard which told the history very well. Terri, our guide, explained that she was not the historian and she was sorry she could not tell us more. I must say being a history buff it was a delight to go inside and also walk around the grave yard. It is well worth the time to stop in, we spent about an hour in total there. Finding the main office door in order to find Terri was a bit confusing - it is on the side of the new building.

If you are a civil war buff, this is an interesting place to visit. It is situated at the corner of Broad Street and Lee Highway in Falls Church. The church is part of the Civil War Trail in the City of Falls Church. According to the history, the building is not the original building. The Cemetery were of those soldiers who died during the Civil War. Another piece of history in the area.

My friend and I had a chance to visit love ones at the Arlington Cemetery. I was surprised to see the grave site of Kennedy, Megar Evers and many more.

[FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a member of this church, but I will confine my review to the Historic Church and grounds. I date this as having "visited" in Oct of 2016, since that was my only option.]
If you happen to be visiting the independent City of Falls Church, there are a limited number of historic places to visit (check the National Registry for a listing). But The Falls Church (Historic) is a must-see if you are interested in colonial, civil war and church history. The brick building (which replaced an older wooden one) was designed by James Wren back in the 1760s (don't quote me).New England Congregationalists will recognize the design -- no center aisle, clean lines, simple altar, no stained glass. (Think Old North Church in Boston.) While the congregation itself has an interesting history (too much to go into here), if you are into colonial buildings, church architecture, and some local Northern VIrginia history, it's worth making a visit. The challenge: the historic church is not open to the public daily. You should contact the church office to make arrangements. Alternatively, check the church web site to see if there are special tours in the offing. Or, if you're in the mood, attend a service on Sundays (usually at 11a or 1115a -- traditional Episcopal service from the BCP--and talk to a member of the congregation who will be happy to connect you with someone who can give you additional information about the building itself. The grounds have a number of significant trees (most of which are labeled), and very (and I do mean very) old grave markers, some almost unreadable. It will take you all of about 10 minutes in the building itself (attached to the larger church complex which includes a relatively new sanctuary, offices, as well as the Falls Church Day School). In the fall and spring the grounds are lovely and have several well-placed benches on which to sit, enjoy a take-away meal or just commiserate with nature.
Not sure I would recommend this if you have limited time in the DC Metro area, but again, if you happen to be on a church tour, or in the city of Falls Church, probably worth about 10 or 15 minutes visit.
