The Hotel is lovely but does not have a pool or public outdoor seating area. Many of the rooms have balconies and at least one has an outdoor patio. Along the eastern side of Ortigia, maybe .5 kilometer, there is a an area with access for sunning and swimming. No real sand beaches anywhere on Ortigia

There is no swimming pool or beach access there. There was a beach in Siracusa that we saw many ppl sunbathing on but no chairs or guards--just blankets and picnics and dogs--very casual. Everything in that area of Siracusa is within walking distance.

I would suggest you go to Google Maps and look at the many photos and reviews of public water access around Siracusa. We were not there to sunbathe, and we didn't notice any sand beaches (it's a city!) but there were stone/concrete walls to walk and sit on and on Google Maps I saw one platform for swimmers to use to access the ocean.
